Description

This is a bridge built in 1824, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is part of a series of prefabricated bridges over the New River. The bridge features cast-iron girders with perforated spandrels and ornamental keystones that display the date of construction. It has a convex chordal profile and spans approximately 4.5 meters. The bridge is inscribed with "New River Co." and "Priestfield Iron Works near Bilston" from Staffordshire. It carries an arched concrete slab that supports the access road to The Thrifts, and is finished with a cast-iron post and rail railing.
