Description
Nos 21 and 23 on Stepney Green, dating from around 1740, are two-storey buildings made of yellow brick with red brick dressings and a parapet. The roof is not visible. Each building has three windows featuring recessed sashes with glazing bars, set under flat gauged arches. There is a moulded brick band above the first floor. The entrance doors are framed by wood doorcases with consoles, a pediment, and a triple key block. The entrance steps are adorned with attractive curved railings. Inside, there is some notable panelling in the hall and an arch with fluted pilasters. Originally, the buildings had three storeys, but the top storey has since been removed. Nos 19 to 23 (odd) and Nos 2 to 18 (even) form a group.
