Description

The railings and gate with overthrow at number 37 are part of a circa 1700 Queen Anne house. The house is constructed of brown brick with a moulded brick band at the first floor level. It has bold wooden modillion eaves under a cornice, and a tiled roof. The house is two storeys high, with a basement and pedimented dormers. It has five windows with red brick dressings and gauged flat arches, containing sash windows with flush frames and glazing bars. The doorcase features panelled pilasters and carved scroll brackets supporting a fine shell hood. A set of entrance steps leads to the property, featuring wrought iron railings and a gate with a fine wrought iron overthrow. The interior includes a fine contemporary staircase, panelling, and two marble fireplaces, one with a pediment. Nos 27A to 37 (odd) form a group.
