Description
Marlow Workshops, built in 1899, is located at the rear of Marlow House. The building is constructed of red brick and features slate roofs with skylights. It is two storeys high, with two windows and a central door on each floor across five blocks, except for No 1, which is only one storey tall. All the windows are casement, and those on the ground floor include a door set under a cambered arch with overall lining.
The Boundary Estate, where Marlow Workshops is situated, is one of the early London County Council estates, notable for its advanced design for the time. It showcases a variety of architectural details, with streets radiating from a central raised park in Arnold Circus. The entire estate is considered a cohesive group, encompassing several streets including Arnold Circus, Boundary Street, Calvert Avenue, Camlet Street, Club Row, Hocker Street, Ligonier Street, Montclare Street, Naverre Street, Old Nichol Street, Palissy Street, Rochelle Street, Swanfield Street, and Virginia Street.
