Description

A pair of warehouses dating to around 1850, later rebuilt internally during the 20th century, are located backing onto St Saviour’s Dock and now serve as flats. The warehouses are constructed of yellow stock brick with twin gables rebuilt above the seventh floor and comprise eight storeys and three bays each. The ground floors are stuccoed with segmental arched openings. Segmental-arched panels rise from the first to the fifth floors of the outer bays, incorporating windows with segmental arches, with an additional similar window above on the sixth floor at each end. Segmental-headed hatch ranks, formerly providing access, rise from the first to the seventh floors in the centre of each front, and have been adapted as balconies. A small oculus is present in each gable, and two are located between the hatch ranks at the seventh floor. The dockside elevation is similarly designed. The interior of the warehouses was not inspected. The buildings have good group value with the other warehouses between St Saviour’s Dock and Shad Thames.
