Description
Crown Wharf is a warehouse that has been converted into flats, dating from around 1840. The building underwent significant alterations after being largely destroyed by fire, with a late 20th-century reconstruction of the facade that replicates the original dockside elevation. It is constructed of stock brick and features a band cornice leading to a coped parapet. The structure has four storeys and three bays, with three full-height round-headed recesses. The central recess contains an adapted hatch rank, while the ground floor has two segmental-arched entrances. Most windows have segmental arches, except for the third floor, where all openings are round-arched. There is a replica gangway across the street from the third-floor hatch. The interior has not been inspected. Crown Wharf is part of the Java Wharf residential development and is located next to St Saviour's Dock, contributing to a good group value with other warehouses situated between St Saviour's Dock and Shad Thames.
