Description

A warehouse, now converted into flats, was built around 1850 and subsequently rebuilt internally during the 20th century, with partially reconstructed elevations. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a gabled front. It is six storeys high, with three bays. The front elevation has altered ground-floor openings, a central round-headed hatch rank adapted for modern use, rising to the fifth floor. This is flanked by two small segmental-arched windows. Two flanking round-headed recesses rise from the first to the fourth floors and contain segmental-headed windows. A replica gangway extends over the street from the hatch rank on the fourth floor. A similar elevation faces the dockside. The interior was not inspected. The building is now part of the Java Wharf residential development and backs onto St Saviour’s Wharf. It has good group value alongside other warehouses located between St Saviour's Dock and Shad Thames.
