Description
Vogan's Mill, the south-west warehouse block located behind the tower block on Mill Street, is a warehouse that has been converted into residential use. It was built around 1860 to 1870, with the east elevation and interior being rebuilt in the 1980s. The building is constructed of stock brick and features a truncated coped pediment gable with two oculi above a stepped brick cornice. The elevation facing St Saviour's Dock is six storeys high and consists of five bays, with a central round-headed hatch rank that has been adapted into balconies, alongside small segmental-arched windows. The east elevation, which faces the courtyard, was rebuilt to replicate the original design. Inside, the space has been adapted for residential use and includes timber posts that support timber beams. Vogan's Mill is part of the Vogans Mill complex and was originally used as a split pea mill. It contributes to the cohesive wall of warehouses that form the St Saviour's Dock inlet.
