Description

A warehouse, now converted into flats, was likely constructed around 1900 and subsequently altered in the 20th century. The exterior is built of stock brick with a decorative cornice of toothed brick at the parapet. The building stands six stories high and has three bays. A central hatch rank, now adapted as balconies and featuring bull-nosed reveals, is flanked by bays of windows with concrete lintels. A new fifth floor has been added, incorporating segmental-arched windows. A hoist is present on the hatch rank at the fourth floor level. The dockside elevation facing St Saviour’s Dock is similar in design. The building is probably a recasing or rebuild of an earlier warehouse, recently adapted and rebuilt internally, alongside the wharf building to its right, to create flats. The interior of the building has not been inspected. The building has good group value when considered alongside the other warehouses situated between St Saviour’s Dock and Shad Thames.
