Description

67 Borough High Street is a Grade II listed commercial building from the late 19th century. It features stucco that has been colored to resemble old red sandstone, with a granite plinth at the base. The roof is hidden behind a balustraded parapet. The building stands three stories tall and has a single bay, but the first floor includes a triple window. The ground floor is rusticated, with pilasters at the corners of the upper storeys and cornices at each level. The rustication on the ground floor creates voussoirs for a round-arched entrance, which has a dropped keystone displaying the number 67. Inside, there are a pair of part-glazed doors. Above the entrance, a frieze is inscribed with "WH & H LeMay Hop Factors" and is decorated with hops. The first floor features triple round-arched sash windows with modified Ionic pilaster jambs. On the second storey, there is a large relief sculpture of hop gatherers in classical costumes, along with the name "WH & H LeMay Hop Factors." To the right at ground level, there is a square-headed entrance with a single corbel. The interior includes a heavy staircase with a square, moulded newel and moulded balusters. The upper storeys are connected by an iron spiral staircase that leads to a top-lit upper floor.
