Description

A pair of semi-detached houses dating to the early 19th century, located on Addington Square. They are built of brick in Flemish bond with stucco dressings, and have a slate roof. The houses are two storeys high with dormers above a basement level, each with three windows. The entrances are flat-arched and slightly recessed, set within Tuscan aedicules at each end range. Ground-floor windows are segmentally arched, with keyed lintels and original tripartite glazing, consisting of six panes in the centre and two panes on either side. Segmental-arched openings are also present in the basement. A storey band runs between the ground and first floors. The sills of the first-floor windows are level with the storey band, and all first-floor windows have round-arched openings, with paired windows above the ground-floor tripartite window in each house, sharing an attached Tuscan colonnette. A single window sits above each entrance. The eaves are guttered and there is a stack to the party wall. The interior was not inspected. Despite later alterations, the pair possesses strong group value alongside numbers 7-11, 13-20, 33-42 and 47-48 on Addington Square.
