Description

This is an early to mid 19th century pair of semi-detached houses, now converted into flats. The brickwork is in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings. The building has a parapeted roof and extends over a basement, with two windows visible on each floor. Steps lead to a flat-arched entrance at the right corner, featuring a cornice supported by console brackets and a flush surround. Ground-floor windows are round-arched and set in recessed surrounds; the lower sashes have six panes, retaining their original design. Other windows are flat-arched, with gauged brick lintels. First and second floor windows have six-pane sashes, reconstructed to match the originals. The basement windows have 3x6 sashes with margin lights, also retaining their original design. An entablature band sits below the parapets, and stacks are visible on the former party wall. The interior has not been inspected. Despite subsequent alterations, the building contributes significantly to the group value of Nos 7-11, 13-20, 33-42 and 47-48 Addington Square.
