Description

Nos. 36, 38, and 40 Honor Oak Rise are a pair and a half pair of houses built around 1850. They are constructed of brown brick and feature a stucco cornice and a balustraded parapet. The ground floor is rusticated, with quoins and dressings. Each house is three storeys high and consists of one bay, with recessed one or two-storey entrances on the sides. The doors are set back behind round-arched openings supported by square pilasters with moulded impost blocks.

The ground floor windows are three-light, with pilaster jambs and mullions, topped by an entablature with a cornice. The first floor features a Venetian window with vermiculated, rusticated keystones, while the second floor has a segmental-headed sash window with an eared architrave and a bracketed sill. There is a stucco string course at the second floor level. The parapet includes arched openings, with the one for Nos. 36-40 adorned with stucco shells. A narrow recessed panel runs the full height of the building on the central axis. The interior has not been inspected.

No. 36 was previously listed as a pair with No. 34, which was delisted on 25 June 2014.
