Description

Nos 76 and 78 Osborne Road are a pair of tall houses dating from around 1850. They are three storeys high, with an attic and basement, and built of stock brick, although No 78 has been rendered. The houses are set back one window bay from the street. They feature a stuccoed frieze and cornice, with brackets prominent on No 78. There are tripartite arched corniced dormers. The second floor windows have archivolt arches. The first floor windows are tripartite, with pilasters, and a central break surmounted by a segmental pediment. The ground floor features tripartite, pilastered bows with bombe cast iron balconies. The cornice returns and breaks forward over projecting porches. The houses are included in the listing for their contribution to group value, forming a group with Nos 76 to 86 (even) on Osborne Road.
