Description
The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's main front block, built in 1909 by A.W. West, is designed in an early 18th-century style. This two-storey building with an attic features a stucco façade and a Mansard tile roof. It has two three-storey canted bays, which are flanked by two windows, and a central section with three windows. The ground floor is supported by double Ionic columns, while the first floor has Doric columns. Above, there is a bracketed cornice with a pediment that contains a large coat of arms. An unusual lunette window is set above the pediment, and there is a cupola on top. The entrance features a bulbous columned pedimented doorway with flush framed architrave sash windows.
