Description
Nos 58 and 60, Grove Road, are a pair of buildings dating from around 1830 to 1840, originally part of a terrace, but subsequently altered and rendered with stucco. They have a stone-capped parapet with a full-width panel situated below. The building features four windows, lacking glazing bars; between the two right-hand windows is a panel depicting a relief of a corn sheaf, accompanied by the motto "Peace and Plenty." A late 19th-century shop front is prominent, featuring plate glass windows, thin mullions, a pilastered doorway, and a carriageway to the left. Round-headed, panelled caps adorn the fascia. The buildings are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the terrace. Nos 56 to 96 (even) form a group.
