Description

Lyndhurst Terrace comprises five terraced houses built in the mid-19th century. The houses are constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco dressings and stucco facing to the basement. They have a parapeted roof. The buildings are three storeys high, with a basement level, and each house has three windows. The end houses project forward, creating a flattened U-shaped plan. Each entrance is accessed by a flight of stairs and is set within a porch with a flush stone surround. Ground-floor windows have moulded architraves, and all ground-floor openings are topped by a cornice that projects on a pair of console brackets. First- and second-floor windows have lintels constructed of gauged brick. A sill band runs along the second-floor windows. A continuous stucco entablature with a projecting cornice and parapet runs across the entire terrace. A rectangular plaque bearing the name “Lyndhurst Terrace” is set between the first and second floors of the front wall of number 25. The interior of the houses has not been inspected. The terrace forms a group with numbers 21-41 (odd) on Lyndhurst Way.
