Description

A terrace of four houses, numbers 25 to 28, dating from around 1810, located on the south side of West Square. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with a brick parapet, although the upper floors have been renewed. They are arranged over four storeys and a basement, with three bays each. Steps lead up to recessed doorways, framed with plain wood surrounds, cornices, and decorative fanlights above the doors of numbers 26 and 28. The windows are sash windows, with flat, gauged-brick arches, some containing 12 panes and others 4 panes. The interiors were not inspected during the listing process. The property includes cast-iron area railings with urn finials, and an overthrow with a lamp holder at number 28. The houses contribute to the group value of buildings in West Square.
