Description

This is a terrace of ten houses at numbers 1 to 19, situated on the south side of Bartholomew Street. They were built between 1818 and 1819, with some parts later rebuilt. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with a slate roof hidden behind a parapet, although number 1 has a mansard roof with dormers. Each house is generally two bays wide, with two windows and a door on the ground floor, except for number 1, which is taller with an attic and a raised basement. The ground-floor openings have round arches. The doorways have been altered, featuring replaced fanlights, and the windows are sash windows set within round-arched recesses with glazing bars and margin lights. There is a stucco string at the level of the spring of the arches. Single-story extensions with entrances are present at numbers 1 and 19. The upper windows have flat, gauged-brick arches; the first-floor windows are taller casements with glazing bars and cast-iron balconies, while the second-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars. Number 1 has sash windows on all floors, and also includes a cast-iron handrail. The interior of the houses was not inspected.
