Description
The presbytery to the Roman Catholic Church of the English Martyrs is an early 20th-century building located on Rodney Road. It is constructed of yellow stock brick with dark red brick dressings and features a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and consists of three storeys, a basement, and dormers on a hipped roof with stacks on either side.
The front elevation includes a two-window range, with the roof showcasing two hipped dormers and casement windows. The second floor has two pairs of 3x6 sash windows set beneath segmental brick arches. The first floor features two pairs of 6x6 sash windows under similar arches, which are adorned with large keystones. The ground floor has a bay window with four 6x6 sash windows beneath flat arches, alongside an off-centre, recessed door. The outer doorcase includes two open overlights and a stone plaque with a shaped gable displaying the initials 'IHS', with an additional 6x6 sash window to the right of the entrance. There is also a basement bay window and a rectangular window, both fitted with late 20th-century glazing. The west return of the building has scattered fenestration.
The materials used in the presbytery match those of the Church of the English Martyrs, with which it forms a cohesive group. The interior has not been inspected.
