Description

Numbers 75-78 on Blackfriars Road are a terrace of four houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from multi-coloured stock brick, featuring a parapet and some stucco elements. Each house has four storeys and a basement, with numbers 76-78 having three bays and number 75 having two bays. The ground-floor fronts of numbers 75 and 76 are finished in contemporary stucco, while numbers 77 and 78 have painted ground floors with doors set in round-headed arches, flanked by fluted wood pilaster jambs and topped with cornice heads. The windows are adorned with flat, gauged red brick arches; the first-floor windows are tall casements with wrought-iron guards, and number 77 has a balcony. Other floors feature sash windows with glazing bars, and there are stucco bands at the sills of the first and third floors. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there are spearhead iron railings leading to the steps and areas. Numbers 75-78 form a group with numbers 81-83, 85, and 86 nearby.
