Description
These are a pair of early 19th-century terraced houses located on the west side of Blackfriars Road, Southwark. The houses are built of brick with a parapet, and feature banded stucco on the ground floor and basement of number 86. Number 85 has a painted ground floor. A stucco dentil cornice sits above the second-floor windows. Each house is four storeys high, with a basement, and has three bays. Doors are recessed within round-headed arches. The first-floor casement windows are set within round-headed recesses with stucco impost blocks, and number 85 has a balcony. Other windows are square-headed sashes, some of which are boarded up. The interiors have not been inspected. The houses include cast-iron railings to the steps and areas. Numbers 85 and 86 combine with numbers 75-78 and 81-83 to form a notable group.
