Description

This is a terrace of four houses located on Grange Road, built in the late 18th century and early 19th century. Numbers 8 and 9 date from the late 18th century and are constructed of multi-coloured stock brick with a pitched pantiled roof hidden behind a parapet. Numbers 10 and 11 have earlier 19th-century facades, although the structures behind may be older. These are stuccoed, with a frieze, cornice, and blocking course.

Numbers 8 and 9 have three storeys and a basement, each with three bays. Number 8 features a recessed panelled door within a timber doorcase, complete with a cornice head, console brackets, a break-front cornice, and a triangular pediment. Number 9 has later stucco pilasters and an entablature surrounding a recessed door with a panelled reveal and cornice head. Each house has four-pane sash windows within stucco lined reveals and sills, topped with gauged, flat brick arches. Numbers 10 and 11 are also three storeys and have a basement, with two bays each. A first-floor sill string functions as a cornice to the ground floor and is supported by pilasters that rest on a band at ground floor level. Doors in the outer bays have cornice heads and decorative overlights. First-floor windows are long sashes with shouldered architraves, and Number 11 has cast-iron guards. Second-floor windows have plain reveals and a sill band. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The interior was not inspected during the listing process. Number 11 has decorative cast-iron railings to the basement steps.
