Description
Numbers 46 and 47 are two terraced houses built around 1840 to 1850, located on the southwest side of Bloomsbury Square in Camden. They are constructed of darkened brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor and stucco block quoins. The houses feature a slate mansard roof with dormers and rise to four storeys, including attics and basements. Each house has two windows, with No. 46 having a three-window (blind) return, a bay corner treatment, and a two-storey back extension.
The doorways are square-headed and recessed, complete with fanlights and panelled doors. The sash windows are square-headed and architraved, with No. 46 displaying bracketed cornices on the first floor, while No. 47 features segmental pediments on the first floor and bracketed cornices on the second floor. A continuous cast-iron balcony at the first floor level showcases a palmette motif, and there is a sill band at the third floor. The houses also have a stucco cornice and blocking course.
The interiors have not been inspected. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings with foliated finials in front of the houses. Numbers 1, 46, and 47 together form a group.
