Description

This is a terrace of five houses located on the east side of Addington Square, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of yellow brick, with variations in roof style. Numbers 33-35 have a low-pitched slate roof behind a coped parapet, while numbers 36 and 37 feature a slate mansard roof with dormers behind a stucco cornice and blocking course. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with numbers 36 and 37 also including an attic. They are two bays wide.

The ground floor features round-arched openings set within round-headed recesses. The front doors differ between the houses; numbers 33-35 have doors with flat pilaster jambs, radial fanlights, and mutule cornice heads, whereas numbers 36 and 37 have doors flanked by detached, fluted Tuscan columns also topped with a mutule cornice head. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with the first and second floor windows having flat, gauged-brick arches. A second-floor stucco sill band is present, along with cast-iron handrails to the steps of numbers 36 and 37. The interior was not inspected. The terrace is accompanied by subsidiary area railings.
