Description
This building is a butcher's shop located at the corner of Manbey Grove, dating from the later 19th century. It is constructed of stock brick, with red brick and painted stone or stucco dressings. The shop is a single storey with a canted corner entrance. It features semi-circular headed openings adorned with hoodmoulds and keystones, which are embellished with bulls' heads. The brick piers have lush foliated and marked capitals. There are a pair of segmental headed windows facing Water Lane, separated by a central cast iron column, and a marble stall riser below. A moulded brick cornice runs along the parapet, topped by a stucco blocking course with decorative iron cresting. This shop is a rare intact survival of its type.
