Description

The statue of William Shakespeare, dated 1846, is located in the garden at the West Ham precinct of the University of East London. The statue features a Coade stone base and a standing figure of Shakespeare, which has now been whitewashed. A bronze plaque on the statue commemorates its presentation to West Ham County Borough in February 1923. The site was formerly known as West Ham Precinct of the North-East London Polytechnic and West Ham College of Technology, Library and Museum.
