Description
The National Westminster Bank, built in 1867, is an Italianate office building located at 49 Broadway in Stratford. It stands three storeys tall and features a six-window-wide façade constructed of yellow stock brick with stone dressings. The ground floor is marked by engaged Doric columns that support a dentilled cornice above a continuous panelled stone pedestal. The segmental-headed windows between the columns are adorned with scrolled keystones. On the first floor, the windows are flanked by Corinthian pilasters and topped with bracketed open pediments. The second floor has openings with keyed segmental heads and eared architraves, along with stone cill bands. The building is finished with a bracketed cornice and a parapet.
