Description
Nos 308, 310, 312, and 312A on Brixton Road SW9 is an early 19th-century house (Nos 308 and 312A) with two late 19th-century shops (Nos 310 and 312) in front. The original house has three storeys and a basement, featuring two windows. It is finished in stucco with incised lines and has a pedimented gable end facing the road. There is a cill band on the first floor. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and the ground floor features round-arched windows. The entrance to No 312A, which is a left wing of No 308, includes a patterned fanlight. The two shop fronts, dated 1879, are in Gothic style and have diagonal compound piers of red sandstone at the corners, topped with gables, and a narrower similar central pier. Inside, each shop front is divided into three bays, with doors beneath flattened ogee heads adorned with fleur-de-lys finials, along with wrought iron stall risers and door grilles.
