Description
27 and 29 Lorn Road is a mid-19th century pair of houses, each featuring two storeys, an attic, and a basement, connected by narrower two-storey entrance bays in the center. The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with a stuccoed basement and a cornice on the central bay that includes a decorative parapet with intersecting arches. The main bay is topped with a tall gable adorned with ornate bargeboards, which supports a Tudor window with a hoodmould. The other windows are framed with moulded architraves, with eared details on the first floor of the main block, and have bracketed cills. The upper windows are sashes with glazing bars, while the lower windows are casements that sit beneath console bracketed cornices, featuring gothic pierced blocking courses. There are decorative cast iron balconies, and access to the doors, which are slightly set back, is via five steps leading up to classical porches with square columns.
