Description

This is a mid-19th century house, comprising three storeys and a basement, and originally featuring five windows, built in an Italianate style. The exterior is stuccoed with incised lines and rusticated quoins, complemented by horizontal bands at the first and second floor sill levels. The roof is slate-covered with chimneys at each end, round-headed dormer windows in the roof slope, and a prominent central attic bay featuring a cornice, blocking course, and casement windows. A heavy main cornice is supported by closely spaced curved brackets running across the entablature. The casement windows have margin lights and are set within moulded architraves, with cornices above on the first floor and a pierced balustrade supported by the ground floor loggia. The ground floor openings have vermiculate rusticated surrounds with triple keyblocks. The central entrance door is half-glazed with margin lights. A square, stuccoed loggia with columns is situated at the front. The forecourt shops are not considered to be of particular heritage interest.
