Description

The Roman Catholic Chapel of Corpus Christi, located on Brixton Hill, was begun in 1886 based on designs by J F Bentley. However, due to financial constraints, only the east end of the chapel was completed. The structure features an aisled chancel, outer chapels, and shallow transepts. It is constructed of red brick with stone bands and dressings, reflecting the style of early 14th century English architecture. The building is notable for its large scale and tall proportions, along with gabled extensions to the south aisle.
