Description
Nos. 3 and 5 on St Matthew's Road are an early to mid-19th century pair of houses, each featuring two storeys and a basement, with three wide windows. They are constructed of stock brick and have a low-pitched hipped slate roof, which has slightly projecting eaves at the ends over the outer entrance bays. The houses have gauged flat brick arches above the replaced sash windows. There are five steps leading up to the six-panel doors, which are adorned with engaged fluted columns, a cornice head, and a wide patterned fanlight set within a moulded architrave that includes an impost string. This entire arrangement is framed within a panel that has an entablature and a blocking course.
