Description
The Mausoleum of Richard Budd, located in the grounds of the Church of St Matthew, is a significant monument dating from the early 19th century, commemorating the deceased Richard Budd, who passed away in 1824. The mausoleum features a large structure composed of three stepped square stages resting on a plinth, showcasing Greek revival ornamentation. The first stage is adorned with urns at the rebated angles, pediments, acroteria, and inscribed side panels. The second stage also includes symbolic ornamentation. The top stage is distinguished by segmental pediments and a prominent finial, which consists of a low urn decorated with anthemion ornament on four sides, positioned above angle volutes.
