Description

Nos 8 and 10 on Rectory Road are an early to mid-19th century pair of houses, each standing two storeys high with a basement and featuring two windows. The two central bays project slightly under a pediment. They are constructed from stock brick and have a stucco frieze and cornice, along with a stuccoed basement. The first-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars, are set within stucco-lined reveals and are topped with gauged flat brick arches. The ground floor features moulded architraves and console bracketed cornices, although No 10 has lost its cornice. Both houses have four-panel half-glazed doors situated in wooden trellis porches that have swept lead roofs. Additionally, No 10 includes a one-bay stuccoed extension on the left side. Together with Nos 6, 6A, 2, 4, 12, 12A, 14, and 14A, these buildings form a group of local interest.
