Description
St Mark's Church Hall and Verger's House, located at No. 53 Colvestone Crescent, was built in 1875 by Chester Cheston, junior, with a rear extension added in 1972. The building is constructed of yellow stock brick, featuring red brick and terracotta decoration. It is a single-storey structure topped with a sweeping slate roof that includes large decorated dormer windows, two on each side. The entrance porch is situated on the south side and is flanked by paired lancet windows. To the east, there are steps leading up to the verger's house, which has two storeys and an attic, with a gable adorned with terracotta panels. Inside, the church hall features paired colonettes at the east end with 'intaglio' decoration, and a large timber roof supported by tie beams on arched braces that drop to wall posts, with queen posts and braces to collars.
