Description
The lodge to the west entrance of the German Hospital was built in 1863 and designed by T L Donaldson and E A Gruning. It is constructed of red brick, featuring decorations in black headers and yellow brick dressings. The building has a pointed slate roof that extends to the eaves and is octagonal in shape. It stands two storeys high, with gabled features that rise above the eaves on the south face, which includes a clock, and the east face. The lodge has square-headed, two-light plate glass windows. There is a mid-20th century extension to the south, but this is not of special architectural interest. The lodge is an integral part of the German Hospital, alongside the main block.
