136 AND 138, BRIXTON HILL SW2

No. 136 and 138 on Brixton Hill is an early to mid-19th century pair of houses, each featuring two storeys and a basement, with two windows in the main block and a slightly set back entrance bay. The buildings are constructed of stucco with incised lines and have a recess aligned with the entrance. They feature a cornice and a tall parapet with openwork panels in front of dormers on a slated mansard roof. The sash windows have mostly lost their bars, and there is one long casement window with an ornamental cast iron balcony. Access to the segmental arched entrances is via four steps, which include a key block and cornice. The ground floor is arcaded with an impost band. These buildings are included partly for their group value.
