Description
No 38 on Guildford Road is a derelict house that was part of a planned estate built between 1843 and 1850 by John Snell. It is designed in the Italianate style and constructed from stock brick, topped with a slate fishscale roof and featuring one brick chimneystack. The house has two storeys, attics, and a basement, with three windows on the front. There are two gabled dormers that contain round-headed sash windows. The first floor has window openings with eased architraves and brackets below the sills, although the glazing bars were missing at the time of the survey. On the ground floor, there are two raised-headed blocked windows and a central elaborate stuccoed Corinthian porch. The house is included for its group value.
