Description

This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of houses, numbered 9 to 23 on Walcot Square. The terrace comprises 15 houses, each two storeys high with a basement, and each designed with two windows. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a parapet at the roofline. The basement level is stuccoed with incised lines. First-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within gauged flat brick arches. Ground-floor windows are long casements with transoms, and are topped by stucco lintels. These ground floor windows are accessed via anthemion patterned cast iron balconies. A set of five steps, featuring wrought iron handrails, leads up to half-glazed six-panel doors, which are recessed within flat stucco surrounds with cornices. Area railings are present, some cast iron and some wrought iron.
