Description

This is a pair of late 18th-century houses located on Kennington Road. They were originally built as three storeys and a basement, with three windows each, and an outer two-storey entrance bay. Number 131 has a later one-storey addition to its left, featuring a tall parapet and a basement garage. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet. The sash windows have gauged flat brick arches, and most retain glazing bars, with the first floor windows of number 133 having unusually long bars. The front doors are six-panel affairs; number 131 has a dentil cornice above the door, with a plain fanlight set within a narrow, moulded architrave, all contained within an enriched Doric doorcase. Number 133 has a later wooden porch with spindly, fluted columns. Steps lead to a wide door terrace, which is enclosed by side walls, wrought iron handrails, and area railings.
