Description

These are a pair of mid-18th century townhouses on Kennington Road, each of three storeys with an attic and basement, and originally featuring three windows. Number 116 is slightly larger than number 114. The roofs are tiled and slated, with dormers. The houses are constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet. Sash windows are set within gauged flat brick arches; number 114 has windows with glazing bars. Number 116 has long first-floor casements with transoms which open onto a patterned cast iron balcony. Number 114 features steps leading to a six-panel door, which has a cornice head and a radial fanlight within a narrow, moulded architrave with a key block, all surrounded by an enriched, open, pedimented Roman Doric doorcase. A similar doorcase is present at number 116, which has interlaced glazing bars to the fanlight above a four-panel door.
