Description

This is a pair of houses located at 23 and 25 Lansdowne Gardens, dating from the mid-19th century. They are two storeys high with a basement, and each has two windows. The houses are constructed of stucco with incised lines, and feature rusticated quoins and a basement. They have low-pitched slate roofs with a moulded and modillioned eaves cornice and a central chimney wall. The windows are sash windows with margin lights, set within moulded architraves with cornices; the ground floor windows have segmental pediments. First-floor windows are accompanied by pierced stucco balconies. There are eight steps leading to a four-panel door, which has narrow pilasters, a cornice head, and a plain fanlight within a wider moulded architrave. The main entrance is located in the narrow outer bay of the pair, and No. 23 has an added narrow outer bay with a matching window. The houses are included in the listing primarily for their contribution to the group value of Lansdowne Gardens.
