Description
The premises of Testi and Sons, millwrights, is a mid-19th century L-shaped building constructed of coursed rubble with freestone dressings, designed in the Tudor style. It was likely originally a school but is now used for industrial purposes. The building features a single-storey north section, which may have served as a schoolroom, and a shorter two-storey south part, possibly a house. The north side has a large Tudor-arched window, while the other windows are square-headed, all with hoodmoulds. The building is topped with high-pitched tiled roofs; the house section includes a row of conjoined octagonal chimneys on the west side and a bellcote on the east. There is a gabled west porch with a Tudor-arched entrance. This structure is an interesting survival in an area that has seen a decline in population.
