Description

Nos 172 to 176 on Lansdowne Drive, built in the early to mid-19th century, are a terrace of three-storey buildings with basements, each featuring two windows. The buildings are constructed of stock brick and have stone-coped parapets along with stuccoed cill bands on the first floor. The sash windows, which mostly have been replaced, are set beneath gauged flat brick arches and are situated in stucco-lined reveals.

The doors for Nos 174 and 176 are six-panel designs, adorned with fluted quadrant pilasters and plain fanlights. The doorway of No 172 is more elaborate, accessed by five steps and featuring a curved wrought iron rail. This entrance includes a six-panel door within a panelled reveal, flanked by engaged fluted Doric columns, topped with a cornice and a patterned fanlight set in a round arched recess.

In front of the terrace, there are cast iron area railings with spearhead standards and spiral turned urn finials. The first-floor windows are complemented by patterned cast iron balconies. Nos 172 to 186 form a cohesive group.
