Description
This is a terrace of four houses built around 1835 to 1845. The houses are made of yellow stock brick with rusticated stucco on the ground floors and plain sill bands on the first floors. Numbers 36 and 42 feature slated mansard roofs with dormers. The terrace is three storeys high, with numbers 36 and 42 also having attics and basements. Each house has two windows. The doorways are segmental-arched and have fluted quarter columns, patterned fanlights, and panelled doors. The entrance to number 36 is located on the return to Swinton Place. The windows have gauged brick flat arches and recessed sashes, with cast-iron balconies on the first floor. The houses also have stucco cornices and blocking courses. The interiors have not been inspected. Additionally, there are attached cast-iron railings with tasselled spearhead finials in front of the houses.
