Description

This is a terrace of twelve houses, built between 1827 and 1832 in yellow stock brick. Some of the houses have slate mansard roofs with dormers, concealed behind a stucco cornice and blocking course, while others have brick parapets. The design is symmetrical, with slightly projecting end bays at numbers 25 and 47. Each house is three storeys high with an attic and basement, and has two bays, featuring three openings on the ground floor. The ground floor is stuccoed and rusticated, with bands that resemble the voussoirs of segmental arches over the windows. The front doors have pilaster jambs, cornice heads, and fanlights, although some fanlights have been replaced with windows. Numbers 25 and 47 have a lower extension to the side containing an entrance porch. The sash windows have glazing bars; those on the first floor have decorative stucco architraves, friezes, and cornices, while those on the second floor have simpler stucco architraves. A stucco sill band runs along the first floor. The interior of the houses was not inspected as part of the listing process. The terrace is accompanied by cast-iron railings with spearhead standards.
