Description
33, 35, and 35A Pond Street are a pair of terraced houses with a studio extension. They were built in the early 18th century and underwent a 20th-century refacing that mimics the original style. The studio extension, known as No.35A, was constructed around 1946 for graphic designer Frederick Henrion and features a later rear extension by Richard Rogers. The buildings are made of red brick with plain brick bands between the storeys and consist of three storeys and a semi-basement. No.33 has three windows, while No.35 has two windows, and No.35A has a two-storey, three-window studio extension to the right.
The doorcases are rusticated Doric pilasters with carved friezes and flat hoods supported by console brackets. Notably, No.35 features a frieze adorned with cherubs and rams' heads. The entrances have patterned overlights and part-glazed panelled doors, which are accessed by steps with cast-iron railings. The windows are recessed sashes, with No.33 retaining its original cased frames. No.33 has a parapet, while No.35 features a cornice and blocking course.
The interiors have not been inspected, but it has been noted that they retain good panelling, with No.35 featuring a staircase with turned balusters.
