Description

31, 33, 35, and 35A Highgate High Street are four terraced houses with later shops, with No.35A being part of and formerly known as No.35. No.31 dates from the late 18th century and was refronted in the mid-19th century. It is built of multi-coloured stock brick, has three storeys with three windows, and features an early 19th-century wooden shopfront that includes pilasters, a projecting canted bay window, a panelled stallboard, and a part panelled/part glazed shop door with an overlight. The fascia has a dentil cornice that extends over a vehicle entrance to the left, and there are cambered arches above recessed two-pane sashes, topped by a parapet.

Nos. 33, 35, and 35A were built in the early 18th century and also refronted in the mid-19th century. They are similarly constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and have old tiled roofs with later dormers. These buildings are two storeys high with attics and have one window each. No.31 has a late 19th-century shopfront that has been altered; No.35 features a 20th-century shopfront; and No.35A has a mid-19th-century shopfront. No.33 has a segmental arch leading to a 20th-century sash window, while Nos. 35 and 35A have segmental arches above flush framed sashes with exposed boxing. All buildings have parapets. The interiors have not been inspected.
