Description

26 Charlotte Street is a terraced house built around 1766, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is finished in stucco and features a felted mansard roof with dormers. It stands four storeys tall, including an attic and basement, and has three windows. The early 19th-century stucco shopfront has three round-arched openings supported by pilasters and architraves, topped with an entablature that includes a triglyph frieze and a block mutule cornice. The central window has radial glazing bars in the upper portion and small panes, with a Greek fret panel below. The doorways on either side are flanked by patterned radial fanlights and feature double panelled doors. The windows are recessed 2-pane sashes with architraves. There are bands at the floor levels, and a cornice and blocking course at the top. A 19th-century rainwater head and pipe is located between No. 26 and No. 24, though No. 24 is not included in this listing. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to retain original features, including a moulded plaster ceiling.
